Background

Since (2007) an Evangelical Christian witness has been growing in Chikuku, Bikita district of Eastern Masvingo Province of Zimbabwe. The ministry is headed by Pastor Learnmore Manyeya.

Learnmore is a young man, who was encouraged by missionaries working in Mozambique to undergo bible training in order that he may respond to his calling more effectively. He attended KwaZulu Natal Missions & Bible College in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa for (3) years graduating with a (diploma in biblical studies).  After he complete his studies, Learnmore returned to Zimbabwe to minister the gospel to his people.  He has a real passion and desire to make Christ known amongst his people who are largely steeped in cultural Zionism and tribalism.

His work is growing, God has established a small church under his direction, mainly made up of young people who are looking for real spiritual answers to life, apart from their ritualistic and traditional cultural background.
The area is typically rural, with lovely granite hills and seasonal running rivers.  There is no electricity or water distribution.  People depend on wood for cooking and springs, boreholes and rivers for water.  There is a junior school in the village, the nearest high school is in (Nyika) (25) kms away.  The nearest poorly supplied clinic is (10) kms away.  Only sporadic cell (mobile) phone reception exists.

Agriculture is based on subsistence farming in largely sandy soil, growing maize, ground nuts, various vegetables and melons.

There is very little employment in the region.  The only employment coming through government agencies, likes schools and medical services.
